Ernakulam (Kerala):A two-month-old baby girl, who was flung away by her father in Ernakulam district last month, has recovered and was discharged on Saturday.
The incident took place on June 17, when 40-year-old Shaiju Thomas, injured his 54-day-old daughter Joseeta Mary Shaiju by hitting her on the head and flinging her on the bed.
The baby then went through anxious moments and a surgery was also performed on her injured head.
The baby, who was being treated at a private hospital in Angamaly earlier was shifted to Kolenchery Medical College Hospital around two weeks ago. Following the improvement in her condition, the baby was discharged from the hospital and was given a warm send-off.
VN Majula, Child Welfare Committee member, handed over the baby to Sr Jisa at Sneha Jyothi Children's home, after discharge from the hospital. KS Arun Kumar, District vice president, State Child Welfare department and Shiji Sivaji, member, state women's commission were also present.
