Kerala's Kasaragod records highest COVID-19 recovery rate in India

Kasaragod district in Kerala registers a remarkable 37 per cent COVID-19 recovery rate, taking it to the highest in the nation. Kasaragod General Hospital is credited for the highest number of COVID recovery cases across the country.

Kasaragod: In a positive development, Kasaragod district which was earlier the hotspot of coronavirus pandemic in Kerala is now treading back to survival.

In the last three days, Kasaragod district marked a remarkable 37 per cent COVID-19 recovery rate.

In India, the rates stand at 11.4 per cent. America, however, lags much behind with just 5.7 per cent recovery in the COVID-19 cases.

Kasaragod General Hospital is also credited for the highest number of COVID-19 recovery cases in the whole nation.

26 persons were discharged after completely recovering from coronavirus on Sunday.

The staff at the hospital who took care of them risking their own lives sent them off amidst claps and cheers.

In the second stage of the spread, 165 persons have been confirmed to have contracted COVID-19. Out of the 165, 60 persons have already left the hospital. Rest of the 105 patients are undergoing treatment.

After continuous 17 days of fresh cases being reported, today there was absolutely no new COVID-19 case reported in the district.

Despite the high recovery rate, the Health Department has still not ruled out the possibility of a community level spread in the district.

It can be checked with the help of a social survey and the existing precautions, the authorities said.

Through the survey, symptomatic persons who have not reported can be traced, identified, isolated and treated.

Meanwhile, the triple lockdown that was imposed in the most affected areas of the district appears to have shown good results.

A total of 248 persons, including those who tested positive and those with symptoms, are in hospital isolation wards.

Including them, 10,374 persons are under quarantine in the district.

As many as 353 persons have uneventfully completed their stipulated home quarantine period.

Of the total 2321 samples sent for testing, 1596 came out negative. The results on the rest of the 539 cases are still awaited.
