Husband hurls acid at Kerala woman

Police in Kerala have arrested a man in connection with an acid attack case. The man reportedly hurled acid at the face and body of his wife who is the Panchayath vice president in Vathikudy. The woman suffered acid burns on her face and back, was taken to the hospital by Panchayath president P K Raju and a few other local residents.

Idukki (Kerala):A young woman, from Vathikkudi in Idukki district of Kerala, reportedly suffered from acid attack at her house, here on Tuesday.

P R Sreeja, Vathikudy Panchayath vice president, suffered from acid burns after her husband hurled acid at her face and body while she was at home.

Murikkasseri Police have arrested Pottananikkal Anil, Sreeja’s husband, in connection with the acid attack case.

The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon as Sreeja reached home after a meeting at the Panchayath Office. Sreeja, who suffered from acid burns on her face and back, was taken to the hospital by Panchayath president P K Raju and a few other local residents.

Murikkasseri Police has taken Anil, her husband, into custody and has recorded his arrest. He will be produced before the court on Wednesday, said the Police.
