Kollam(Kerala):Forty women of Perniad village here have embarked on a journey to turn their village into a plastic-free Panchayat.
The National Green Tribunal has chosen Perinad as an example of proper implementation of waste management laws and environmental protection measures. Perinad has given a lesson to the rest of the country on how to deal with the peril of plastic.
Forty women resolve to turn Perniad plastic-free A group called the Haritha Karma Sena collects garbage from every household in the ward which is then taken to a processing unit for washing, cleaning and breaking it down into a powder.
The processed powder is then sent out from the processing unit to 'Clean Kerala Company' which uses it for tarring roads.
