Kannur (Kerala): Five people of a family were found dead at their residence near Cherupuzha in Kerala's Kannur on Wednesday, police officials said. According to official sources, the woman who recently remarried and was living here with her husband along with three children she had from her previous marriage informed the local police station before she took the drastic step with the family.
Police said they found all five members of the family dead when they arrived at her residence a few minutes after they received the call. A case of unnatural death has been registered by the jurisdictional police. Police said the postmortem examinations would ascertain the time of death.
"The deceased couple were identified as Shaji and Sreeja. The couple is suspected to have killed Sreeja's three children before killing themselves. The three children were identified as Suraja, Surabhi and Subith. The deceased children were aged between eight to 12 years old," the official added.

DSP KE Premachandran said the Sreeja called the police station around 6 am and informed the police that she was taking the drastic step. We knew that there was a marital dispute brewing in the family. Both of them have been called to appear before the police in that regard. But they never came.
According to locals, Sreeja along with her three children walked out on her husband and Shaji walked out of his marriage with his wife and two children. They both got married a couple of weeks ago without obtaining a formal divorce. Police have ruled out foul play since the door was bolted from the inside and they had to force their way into the house to find all five dead. The children were found near the staircase while the couple was found in another room.
