Couple found dead inside house under mysterious circumstances in Kerala

Mystery shrouds the death of a couple whose bodies were recovered from their house at Anchal Idamulakkal in Kerala's Kollam today. Prima facie evidence suggests that the husband killed his wife and later hung himself.

Kollam (Kerala): A couple was found dead in their house at Anchal Idamulakkal in Kollam district of Kerala on Wednesday. The deceased persons were identified as Sunil (34) and Sujini (24) of the same locality.

According to sources, Sunil and Sujini had tied the knot some years ago and they had a three-year-old daughter. However, they were found dead inside the house this morning.

The incident came to light after neighbours of Sunil came to visit their house this morning. Following this, neighbours rang up Sunil, but their calls went unanswered. Later, they broke open the door where they found couples' lifeless bodies.

While Sunil was found hanging from the ceiling of the bedroom, Sujini was found lying on the floor with a knot around her neck. On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the bodies for post-mortem.

"It is suspected that the man murdered his wife, before hanging himself. It is suspected that the woman was strangled. A post-mortem report is awaited. We suspect that the incident took place late on Tuesday night," a police official said.

The police said that the relatives of the couple have been informed about the incident and an investigation into the matter is underway.

While the exact cause behind the death of the couple is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation suggests that the duo took such an extreme step over a family dispute, sources added.
