Alappuzha (Kerala):The multidisciplinary team deployed by the Centre to evaluate the situation in the bird flu hit areas of the State will reach Kerala’s Alappuzha on Thursday.
The team would visit and evaluate the situation in Alappuzha and Kottayam districts where the avian influenza genus H5N8 has been confirmed. As the Government had declared the H5N8 bird flu as a State calamity, the team would review the measures taken by the administration in the flu-hit districts to check the spread of the disease and also to prevent further transmission.
The Central officials are to visit Pallippadu, Karuvatta, Thakazhi and Nedumudi panchayaths in Alappuzha district and Neendoor ni Kottayam District, and meet the farmers and the animal husbandry officers.
