2.3 kg gold seized from Kozhikode International Airport

About 2.3 kg of gold was seized from four passengers at Kozhikode International airport today. The market value of gold is about 1.14 crore.

Malappuram: The customs officials seized 2.3 kg gold at Kozhikode International airport in Kerala on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, Customs officials seized from four passengers coming from Rasa Al Khaimaih in SG 9026.

The market value of the gold is about 1.14 crore.

The compound weighing 1.8 kg was seized from a woman passenger while, 380 gm, 390 gm, 387 gm was recovered from three men respectively.

Meanwhile, air intelligence unit of Kozhikode airport registered three cases against three different flyers, who attempted to smuggle gold worth around Rs 1.50 crore from the Gulf region yesterday.

Another flyer named Abdul Jaleel, who also arrived from Rasalkhaimah (UAE), was carrying over 2 kg of gold.

Mohammed Riyas of Koduvally, who arrived from Doha, Qatar, attempted to smuggle gold weighing about 800 grams concealed in the underwear worn by him.
