In a bid to get rid of single-use plastic, Nalini, a native of Raichur in Karnataka is distributing cloth bags. Nalini, who wants to make her ward plastic-free distributed cloth bags with a printed message on it, ‘We walk towards cleanliness’.

Raichur: As the use of plastic being discouraged all round, there is a need to popularise the use of an alternative to plastic. The government and the elected representatives are joining hands in popularising the use of cloth bags in Raichur district.

Nalini Chandrashekhar Meti, a member of City Municipal Council, is distributing cloth bags to the people in Raichur's Sindhanur area.

Spending money from her pocket, she has bought 600 cloth bags from Hosapete and is distributing them among the people in Ward Number 2 in Sindhanur for free of cost.

Nalini who wants to make her ward plastic-free distributed cloth bags with a printed message on it, ‘We walk towards cleanliness’.

If one looks at the benefits of using cloth bags, it can be used for many years and can carry up to 10-15 kgs of weight.

Cloth bags are environment-friendly as they are made up of cotton and are recyclable too. Nalini is also creating awareness of the harmful effects of plastic on the environment among the people.
