Wild elephants trample paddy fields in Chikmagalur, villagers seek compensation

A group of elephants went on a rampage in Gowdahalli village in Mudigere Taluk in Karnataka's Chikmagalur district and destroyed paddy fields worth thousands of rupees. Villagers now demand full compensation from the government.

Chikmagalur:A pack of elephants entered the paddy fields in Gowdahalli village in Mudigere Taluk in Karnataka's Chikmagalur district on Tuesday night and destroyed all the crops.

Wild elephants trample paddy fields in Chikmagalur

The rogue tuskers, who are still present in the fields, are believed to have destroyed paddy crops worth thousands of rupees.

The villagers said that they have been witnessing similar events in the past too, but nothing has been done by the authorities so far to curb the menace.

They also said that apart from causing crop damage, the elephants also pose great threat to human lives. They also demanded full compensation from the government.
