Unlock 2.0: Full lockdown on Sundays in Karnataka from July 5

According to the fresh guidelines issued by the Karnataka government for unlock 2.0, lockdown will continue in containment zones till July 31, while full lockdown will be observed in the state on Sundays from July 5.

Bengaluru:The lockdown in containment zones has been extended till July 31, Karnataka government's chief secretary and head of state disaster management authority TM Vijayabhaskar informed.

The new guidelines are applicable immediately and will remain in effect until July 31. The BBMP commissioners, district superintendents of police, police superintendents, city police commissioners and other department heads have been instructed to step up efforts in order to curb the spread of the virus.

Unlock 2.0:

According to the unlock 2 guidelines, all activities will be permitted in areas outside Containment Zones, except schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions which will remain closed till July 31.

While online and distance education will continue to be encouraged, state and central government training institutes can start operating from July 15 as per the instructions of DOPT and DPAR.

The activities not allowed as per the order are, "International air travel of passengers, except as permitted by MHA. Metro Rail, Cinema halls, gymnasiums, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places. Social/political/sports/entertainment/academic/cultural-religious functions and other large congregations."

Night Curfew:

The statewide night curfew will be in effect from 8pm to 5am.

"Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited between 8.00 pm to 5.00 am throughout the State, except for essential activities, including operation of industrial units in multiple shifts, movement of persons and goods on National and State Highway/Major District Roads, loading and unloading of cargo and travel of persons to their destinations after disembarking from buses, trains and airplanes," the order read.

Sunday Lockdown:

Further, there will be a full lockdown every Sunday from July 5 until August 2. Essential activities as well as wedding ceremonies already scheduled are allowed.

Government Offices:

All government offices, boards and corporations (except offices where necessary services are closed) will be closed on Saturday till August 2.

Containment Zones:

Containment zones have been identified by the BBMP and District Authorities in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Health and Family Welfare. Essential services will be allowed in containment zones, while the movement of the general public will be only restricted to medical work.

The activities in these zones must be strictly managed by the BBMP and District Authorities. Guidelines must be made in compliance with mandatory care. Buffer zones outside the containment zones should be identified by the BBMP and the district authorities.

No e-permit required:

There is no restriction on inter-district and interstate traffic. There is no need to obtain a separate permit, or an e-permit. Those who come to Karnataka from other states must follow the guidelines issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare and the Department of Revenue (Disaster Management).

The SOP shall apply for the dispatch of passenger trains and labor trains, local airline passengers, Indians stranded abroad and scheduled expatriates, foreigners stranded in our country. Individuals over 65 years of age, suffering from health-related problems, pregnant women, children under 10 should be safe at home.
