Doddaballapur: With eco-friendly being all the fad and the festival of Diwali fast approaching, now environmentally responsible people can buy earthen lamps made out of cow dung to light up their surroundings in the true festival spirit.
This Diwali one can try this different kind of diya made of cow dung prepared in Rashtrotthana Goshala near Ghati Subramanya in Doddaballapur taluk of Karnataka, decorated without any harmful colour or adornments.
After hybrid cattle were introduced in the market people started preferring them compared to the indigenous ones. As a result, country cattle were sidelined. This led to a rapid increase in their number and their use went on decreasing. Thus Goshalas were started by the government to protect country cattle, but the goshalas had to wait for government grants for their maintenance.
