Bengaluru (Karnataka): "A kind heart is a fountain of gladness, making everything in its vicinity freshen into smiles." This old proverb is proven true by this family in Bengaluru that feeds more than 300 people, who are deprived of food amid COVID-19 lockdown.

"My wife and I have decided to serve the people who have no access to food items due to nationwide corona lockdown", said 30-year-old John who is associated with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)- an administrative body responsible for civic amenities in the city.

"While working at Majestic (Bengaluru bus stand), I witnessed a group of people begging for food items. After returning from my work, I shared it with my wife," he said.

Earlier, John used to feed as many as 50 people, but after getting the information about a food stall which serves meals to the poor, all the destitute living in the Majestic area used to rush to the stall.

"We saw that a large number of people assembled at the stall within 5 minutes of opening. Then, we realised that we should expand our mission as demand is more than what we expected earlier," said John.

"Now, we are serving more than 300 destitutes who were deprived of food due to lockdown", added John.

While talking to ETV Bharat, his wife said, "God has given us a chance to serve humanity. Although our income is not sufficient as per our requirements, we have taken an initiative to serve the people who are deprived of food. Hunger doesn't have any religion. Therefore, it is our prime duty to feed them."
