Retired police officer forced to turn rag-picker in Karnataka

A retired police officer who has served as a sub-inspector for three decades in several districts of Karnataka is now forced to begging and rag-picking to make ends meet.

Chikkaballapura (Karnataka):Madhusudan Rao, a retired police officer who has served as a sub-inspector for three decades in several districts of Karnataka, is now forced to begging and rag-picking to make ends meet.

He has served in many districts including Chintamani, Gauribidanur, Manchenahalli, Kolar, Galpet, Rayalpadu, Masti, and Malur.

As per information, Rao completed his graduation and joined the police force for a salary of merely Rs 80.

After retiring from the service 6 years ago, he stayed with his wife and children in Bengaluru's Uttarahalli. But three years ago Rao's wife died and since then his misery started.

His two daughters and a son struggled to adjust among themselves and kept on quarrelling every now and then.

This agitated Rao to such an extent that he left the home and started begging in Chintamani.

Rao felt insulted in begging and after a couple of months, he left it and started rag picking for his livelihood.

After a few months, Chintamani's Circle Inspector Anand came to know about Rao's condition and collected all the information about him.

Knowing that Rao was a retired Sub-Inspector, Anand immediately provided a shelter to him and arranged a new job so that he could lead a dignified life.
