Madikeri (Karnataka): A museum celebrating the life of former Army Chief General Kodandera Subayya Thimayya, housing a variety of antique weaponry and war relics, was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind here on Saturday.
General KS Thimayya served as the Chief of Army Staff from 1957 to 1961 and his ancestral house 'Sunny Side' has been renovated and converted into a museum in Madikeri.
The museum showcases memorabilia including weapons, military uniforms, and houses a battle tank at the entrance in addition to a fighter jet. A mini rocket launcher, war tank, MiG-21, a supersonic jet fighter, arms and weapons used by the soldiers of the Indian Army are part of the museum.
