Congress's warranty has expired, no meaning of its guarantee: PM Modi to Karnataka party workers

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a virtual address to his party workers in Karnataka said that they must make people understand the benefits of a "double engine" BJP government.

New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a virtual interaction with Karnataka BJP workers said that the Congress party itself is in a state of doom, so there is no guarantee to whatever promises it makes to the voters in the upcoming state elections. India will have to get rid of "revdi culture" (offering freebies) if it wants to progress, he said adding that while the focus of other parties is on grabbing power, BJP's is on making India developed in the next 25 years.

The Prime Minister said that people of Karnataka are ready to form a stable BJP government with full majority in the May 10 elections. Referring to the benefits of "Double engine" government, a term coined to describe same party state governments at the state and the center, he said that such a scenario increases the pace of development. This is because whenever BJP gets an opportunity to serve people, the speed and scale of development increase, he reasoned.

He directed party workers to ask for votes for a stable and majority government in the state by making people understand problems of instability. Exuberatring confidence among the state BJP cadre Modi said that their effort in every booth will make BJP win with record seats in Karnataka Assembly polls. People of Karnataka have huge trust in state BJP, he added.

Karnataka will vote on May 10 while the counting of votes is scheduled on May 13. The BJP had managed to come to power last assembly elections by engineering defections among the ranks of the Congress MLAs. Karnataka is the only state in the south where the BJP is able to rule on its own.
