Bengaluru: Advocate Anand Murthy on Monday filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in Karnataka High Court against Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and Karnataka Assembly Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar alleging that the trust vote is being delayed deliberately.

"The coalition government is unnecessarily delaying trust vote. Speaker Ramesh Kumar is also misleading," he claimed in his petition.

The advocate has asked the High Court to monitor the trust vote and appealed for a proper direction in the case.

The 13-month-old Congress-JDS government slumped into a minority earlier this month following the resignation of several dissident MLAs. Sixteen MLAs from the ruling coalition including thirteen Congress and three JD(S) MLAs have resigned.

The state Assembly has 225 members, including one nominated MLA. The halfway mark in the 225-member Assembly is 113.
