Bengaluru:Birthday boy DK Shivakumar (DKS), one of the top contenders to the Chief Minister's post in Karnataka, said winning Karnataka elections with a massive majority is his birthday gift and that he has not made any decision on going to Delhi to meet Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and the Gandhis.
Birthday gift- "Forget about the highcommand. Karnataka people have given it," DKS said whether he was hoping for any birthday gift from the party top brass. After Sonia Gandhi has appointed me as Congress president with trust, we have got a massive majority of 135 seats. We were not in power. (And were facing) with all the harassment and trouble from the the double engine.. With big force. Still the people of Karnataka had reposed their faith in me and the party workers. And they had given me a gift of 135 plus one associate member 136 seats. What more gift you need. My numbers is my birthday gift, he said.
Uncertainty over Delhi visit-We have passed one line resolution. We will leave it to the high-command. My party high-command will take its call. I have not decided to go to Delhi. Still. Because today I have lot of my people coming from all over the state. I have some small rituals in my house. Today is my birthday. So some Pujas... I have to go to my temple... which I believe...I have to go there and seek his blessings, Shivakumar said.
"I don't know. Whatever job I had to do, I have done it . That's all. Simple," Shivakumar said when prodded whether there is a system in the works to accommodate both as Chief Ministers with an understanding that the CM's chair will be shared between them over a period of time.
