No proposal as of now for complete lockdown: K'taka Health minister

Karnataka Minister of Health and Medical Education Dr Sudhakar has said that the state government has no plans to impose a complete lockdown in the state. The minister also alluded to the fact that the Janata curfew in the state will continue.

Kalaburagi (Karnataka):The Minister of Health and Medical Education Dr Sudhakar said that "there is no proposal for a complete lockdown in the state."

Talking to media in Kalaburagi, the minister said, "the lockdown has been in force for 44 days in Maharashtra. Now slowly the number of positive cases is decreasing." The minister also alluded to the fact that the Janata curfew in the state will continue.

"After the 14-day Janata curfew, we would take a decision on the next move," Dr Sudhakar said.

The Minister said that "the campaign for the vaccination of those over the age of 18 has started from today. But it still needs time to get started on a large scale."

Sudhakar said that the government had negotiated with companies. "There is no specific information on when the vaccine will come. Large-scale vaccination will begin after getting the vaccine."

"Currently we need 6 lakh doses and we have only 3 lakh doses. So there is no large scale distribution," the minister said.
