No place for narrow-minded people in Belagavi: Karnataka CM flays Maharashtra leaders

Karnataka Chief Minister Basaravaj Bommai attacked Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti at Belagavi stating that the recent elections taught a lesson to narrow-minded people. Belagavi is home to multi-lingual people and there is no place for narrow-minded people here, the Chief Minister said.

Belagavi (Karnataka):"Belagavi is like a whole of India and multi-lingual people live here. There is no place for narrow-minded people in Belgavi," Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai hit at the Maharashtra leaders. Bommai visited Belagavi to inaugurate Ravindra Kaushik e-library named after patriot Ravindra Kaushik.

Heaping praises on Belagavi and its people, he attacked Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) which lost the Belgavi City Corporation Polls held earlier this month. The city people taught a lesson to narrow-minded people, he mentioned. "We (BJP) work towards enhancing the respect of Belagavi. Our govt is committed to the development of Belagavi," Bommai said and he urged new members of the corporation council to work in a secular manner.

The BJP won a clear majority first time in the Belagavi City Corporation Polls held earlier this month. BJP created history by defeating MES, which has been influential in local elections for decades. While BJP won 35 seats, Congress secured 10 seats, independents garnered 10 seats while MES was reduced to 2 and AIMIM won one seat.

There is a tug of war between Karnataka and Maharashtra over Belagavi with each state claiming ownership for the district.
