Bengaluru:A Nigerian, who swallowed capsules of cocaine weighing 1 kg and worth Rs 11 crore was arrested by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) after he landed at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport from Ethiopia.
While checking the profile of foreign passengers, DRI officials intercepted the accused after suspecting something unusual in his behaviour. He was taken aside for questioning. Suspecting him to be a smuggler who could use his body to carry drugs, officials offered him food and water. The accused, however, refused to eat or drink anything fearing that if the drug capsules burst inside his body it could lead to fatal consequences.
Finding the accused restless and resisting the food and drink that was offered to him, the DRI officials took him to the hospital. In an X-ray that was conducted later, it was reveaed that there were 64 capsules inside his stomach. The DRI team arrested him immediately and sent him to the Central Jail.
