NIA arrests terror suspects in Bengaluru

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said that it has arrested two accused - Ahamed Abdul Cader and Irfan Nasir - in connection with the Bengaluru-based ISIS module case. A case against them was registered suo-moto by the NIA on September 19, 2020, after certain incriminating facts emerged about a Bengaluru-based ISIS module.

Bengaluru:Two suspected terrorists have been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials on Thursday from Bengaluru. The accused have been identified as Ahamed Abdul Cader and Irfan Nasir, were allegedly involved in a Bengaluru-based terror outfit Islamic State (ISIS) module case.

According to officials, Ahmed Abdul Cader is a business analyst in a bank in Chennai and Irfan Nasir is a rice merchant in Bengaluru.

A case against them was registered suo-moto by the NIA on September 19, 2020, after certain incriminating facts emerged about a Bengaluru-based ISIS module.

Accused Ahamed Abdul Cader, Irfan Nasir, and their associates played a very significant role in the radicalization of the members of the group in the country and arranged funds through donations, officials said.

Two terror suspects were having a connection with Dr Abdul Rahman, a doctor in M.S.Ramaiah Hospital of Bengaluru was nabbed by the NIA sleuths before for having a connection with ISIS.

Dr Rahman helped the duo to join ISIS and also facilitated to go Syria. The accused had also collected money from the Muslim people through the Watsapp group in order to join ISIS, officials said.

Based on the Statement of Dr Rahman, NIA arrested the terror suspects in Bengaluru. Both the accused were produced before Special NIA Court, Bengaluru and 10-day NIA custody has been granted for interrogation. Further investigation in the case is continued to unearth the larger conspiracy, officials added.
