NCB nabs woman drug kingpin who supplied pills to Kannada stars

The Narcotics Control Bureau questioned Anikha D, the alleged kingpin of a drug racket, which used to supply pills to prominent Kannada actors and musicians. Investigations revealed that she was acquiring drugs from peddlers in Mumbai, Germany, and Belgium, and handed over the drugs to Sandalwood stars in hotels and malls.

Bengaluru (Karnataka): The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has busted a drug trafficking racket and arrested a woman accused of selling drugs to prominent Kannada actors, musicians, and television artists.

The NCB said it seized 145 ecstasy or MDMA pills and over Rs 2.20 lakh cash from "Royal Suits hotel Apartment, Kalyan Nagar, Bengaluru" on August 21.

"In follow up action, the team seized 96 pills of MDMA and 180 LSD blots at Nikoo homes in Bengaluru," Narcotics Control Bureau Deputy Director (operations) K P S Malhotra said in a statement.

"Later, a woman drug supplier who had been the main kingpin of the case was intercepted and 270 pills of MDMA were recovered from her house at Dodagubbi, Bengaluru," Malhotra said.

The main accused in the drug sale Anikha D appeared before the court and later the NCB police took her into custody.

The accused Anikha had been selling drugs for the past six years. She was studying at a private college in Bengaluru and had created her own gang.

It is learned that Anikha herself is a drug addict. She was reportedly under the influence of drugs while she was arrested, and it took more than 10 hours for her to come back into her senses and provide information on the matter.

According to reports, Anikha's network was huge and she enjoyed an affluent lifestyle. She also owned a luxury car and apartment.

MDMA (methylenedioxy- methamphetamine), commonly known as ecstasy, is a party drug that alters mood and its perception is chemically similar to stimulants and hallucinogens. It produces a feeling of increased energy and pleasure.

As per officials, each ecstasy pill costs between Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,500 in the domestic market.
