National award-winning director turns to scrap business for living

Yakub Khader Gulvadi who was formerly engaged in the Gujri shop work to fill his stomach later wrote four books with a special taste in the field of literature. He went on to win National-award and has now returned to scrap business.

Udupi: He is a National Award-winning Director who studied only till Sixth Class but is a literary lover who has written four books. After all, he hung all his honors, medals on the wall, kept aside all his name fame, and stayed away from the colorful life and is now working at a junk shop for a living.

His name is Yakub Khader Gulvadi. Great Director, Literature. Gulvadi Talkies produced "Dharisabeku Reservation" and won a national award. He is the producer of Triple Talaq, which was selected at the Abuja International Film Festival in Nigeria, and screened in various countries.

Gulvadi, who was formerly engaged in the Gujri shop work to fill his stomach, later wrote four books with a special taste in the field of literature. He has participated in Akka sammelana and has rounded almost 17 countries.

Gulvadi then worked as a costume designer in Kasaravalli directed 'Gulabi Talkies' and Nikil Manju directed the Haj movie. He has also acted in the Nagatihalli Chandrashekhar's Ishtakamya, India vs England, on Yakshagana, and in the Sindhura serial.

He was later awarded the National Award and Rajatha Kamala Award in 2017 to Reservation Cinema. In addition, Barry-language "Triple Talaq" directed by Yakub was selected for the prestigious 17th Abuja International Film Festival in Nigeria, Africa.
