Mysuru gears up for Jumbo Savari on Monday

Dr. Chandragupta, Police Commissioner of Mysuru, along with DCP Geetha Prasanna and Mysore Palace Board officials, visited Mysuru Palace to inspect the preparations ahead of Jumbo Savari which is scheduled to be held on Monday.

Mysuru: As part of the preparations ahead of the spectacular Jumbo Savari, the titular head of Mysore Royal Family, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar held a private durbar at Mysore palace. Rituals ahead of Gajapayana will be performed at 'Kannadi Thotti'.

Dr. Chandragupta, Police Commissioner of Mysuru, along with DCP Geetha Prasanna and Mysore Palace Board officials, visited Mysuru Palace to inspect the preparations ahead of Jumbo Savari which is scheduled to be held on Monday.

Dr. Chandragupta said the elephant procession would end in 30 to 40 minutes as the usual flamboyance associated with Mysore Dasara has been avoided in the wake of COVID-19. Chief Minister Yeddyurappa will perform Pooja on Monday at the Anjaneya Swamy Temple at between 2.59 and 3.20 p.m.

Only invitees will have access to the palace. Traffic will be restricted on all roads surrounding the palace on the day of Jambusavari. Only 300 people will be allowed to participate in the Jumbo Savari. Jamboosavari which will be held between 3.40 p.m and 4.15 p.m will be telecast live on Chandana TV Jamboosavari, the police commissioner said.

Folk artists have been rehearsing and around 5 teams will be part of the Jumbo Savari. Gombe Kunitha, Veeragase, Maragalu Kunitha, Chande are also preparing for the event.

An elephant named Abhimanyu conducted Taleem in the front of the palace with a wooden howdah. The cavalry police rehearsed along with Jumbo Ride at the Palace.
