Mysore prepares for a low-key Jambo Savari

In the wake of COVID-19 crisis, the spectacular Jambo Savari during Mysore Dasara celebrations will be held as a low-key affair. Nevertheless, four Kalathanda cavalry regiments, one tableau and Karnataka police band will be the part of the march past as the part of Jambo Savari.

Mysuru (Karnataka):The world famous Dasara elephant procession Mysore, popularly knows as the Jamboo Savari, will be held as a low-key event in the wake of continuing COVID-19 crisis. The Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yeddyurappa will at the Nandi flag at the gate of Mysuru Palace.

Later in the afternoon, the Chief Minister and Yadhuveer Krishnadattha Chamaraja Wadiyar, the titular head of the Mysore royal family, will offer flowers to the idol of goddess Chamundeshwari which will be carried inside a golden howdah (Ambari). Subsequently, the Chief Minister will flag off the Dasara parade.

What will be in the parade?

Four Kalathanda cavalry regiments, one tableau and Karnataka police band will attend the Jambo Savari. Elephants named Vijaya and Kaveri will accompany the elephant Abhimanyu who will carry the Ambari. Veterinarians from the forest department and ambulances will also be the part of the march past.

This year, Jambo Savari will be held only within the palace premises.
