Municipality evicts elderly couple from roadside hut in Karnataka

An old age couple was driven out of their house by Karnataka's Ramdurg municipality officials on Friday.

Belagavi (Karnataka): In an inhuman gesture, an old age couple were driven out of their house by Karnataka's Ramdurg municipality officials on Friday.

According to sources, the incident took place at Ramdurg town of Belagavi district where an old aged couple was living by making a small hut for the past twenty years and that land was belonging to the Ramdurg municipal council.

Amid the nationwide lockdown, municipal officials came to the spot and warned the couple to vacate the home and later, evicted them from their house, sources added.

“This is the inhumane way in which the administration forcefully carried out the eviction drive without any notice. It as rendered us homeless and we will now live under the open sky,” said the old man while weeping.

This unfortunate incident has sent shock waves across the region.
