Mangaluru (Karnataka): A Karnataka mechanic has earned ample appreciation for developing a multi-purpose machine using an old bike engine. While he was sitting idle during the lockdown, Nandan Gowda of Mardala village in Karnataka's Mangaluru decided to do an experiment.
Nandan, who is an engineer by profession, can be now spotted breezing past the village lanes with his handcrafted multi-purpose machine which can be used for spraying agricultural disinfectants and for washing any vehicle.
According to sources, Nandan has developed the machine on his expenses from his pockets. He claims that six people can use a single machine and can spray up to 600 areca nut plants using one litre of petrol at a time.
Mangaluru young engineer invents multi-purpose machine amid lockdown Speaking to ETV Bharat, Nandan said," I am curious towards innovations right from my childhood. I started from my 5th standard in fact. For a while, when I was doing my engineering studies, I stopped. As I am free now, I have ventured into my inventions again."
"I am inclined to do some inventions for agriculture. It was my dream once and even now. I have also prepared many models for school children. If either the state government or the central government extends their cooperation, I am confident of making such machines which will help people more," he said.
After completing the Bachelor's degree in Engineering, he worked for some time at a private firm in Bangalore. He was also working in a shop where he used to repair firm equipment. Utilising his knowledge and expertise for years, he was able to develop this multi-purpose machine.
