Mangalore child undergoes corrective surgery for polydactyly

The child was born with seven fingers and without a thumb, also called 'Mirror Hand' in scientific terms. The surgery took place at the Tejaswini Hospital in Mangalore ten days ago and was performed by Dr. Bhaskarananda Kumar and his team.

Mangalore: A child born with seven fingers and without a thumb underwent a rare corrective surgery in Karnataka's Mangalore.

The child was born with a condition called polydactyly, also called 'Mirror Hand' in scientific terms.

The extra fingers were removed in a surgery that lasted about two and a half hours.

The surgery took place at the Tejaswini Hospital in Mangalore ten days ago and was performed by a team of doctors led by Dr. Bhaskarananda Kumar.

The team removed extra fingers and attached a thumb. The child was discharged from hospital following his recovery.
