Man, who raped girl after luring her with food, arrested in Karnataka

Karnataka police have filed a complaint against a man after a 14-year-old girl was raped after being lured by him with food and money. The man was caught and handed over to the police by the public.

Dharwad(Karnataka): Karnataka Police have filed a complaint against a man after a 14-year-old girl was raped after being lured by him with food and money. The man was caught and handed over to the police by the public.

The girl is destitute and begs on the streets for a living. The issue came to light when the District Child Protection Unit officially lodged a complaint with the suburban station. The girl was later admitted to the Sneha open shelter in Navanagar and after a proper medical check-up, the rape was confirmed.

In her statement to police, the girl said that the accused sexually harassed her after luring her with food.

The District Child Protection Unit's defence secretary, Dr Kamala Bailura said. "The child commission had been informed of an attempted sexual assault on a minor girl by an unknown person. The public had taken him and handed him over to the police. After the medical consultation, rape was confirmed."
