Lockdown violators arrested for assaulting cops in Bengaluru

The police have arrested two youngsters in Bengaluru for assaulting on duty cops. The youth were found violating the lockdown orders when an argument broke out between the cops and them, which eventually led to them attacking the policemen.

Bengaluru (Karnataka):At a time when cops across the country are dealing with lockdown violators, two youngsters in Bengaluru were arrested for assaulting cops on duty.

The incident happened in the city's Sanjayanagara area, where two policemen were asking people, who were openly violating the lockdown orders, to go home.

However, an argument then broke out between the cops on duty and the youngsters, which eventually led to the two men attacking the cops.

A few people at the spot were also seen trying to intervene, even as the youth continued to rain blows on the cops.

Meanwhile, the two men have been arrested in connection with the assault case.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had only yesterday announced that the entire nation would be placed under lockdown for a period of 21 days in order to arrest the spread of COVID-19.

While essential services would remain open, people have been told to minimise stepping outside their homes and have been instructed not to indulge in gathering.

However, in various instances across the nation, people have been seen openly flouting the lockdown rules and crowding.
