K'taka crisis: Kumaraswamy likely to face trust vote today

As the stalemate continues in Karnataka, the ruling coalition led by HD Kumaraswamy is likely to face the trust vote on July 22. BJP president BS Yeddyurappa has claimed that it would be last day of the JD(S)-Congress government.

New Delhi:After delaying the trust vote for two consecutive days, the ruling coalition in Karnataka is likely to face the test on July 22. This comes after the intervention of the Governor to speed up the proceedings.

The Congress-JD(S) government slumped into a minority earlier following the resignations of 16 dissident MLAs.

Besides, Karnataka political crisis seemed to be in an unending spiral as the House Speaker KR Ramesh adjourned the house till July 22, without completing trust vote proceedings.

According to reports, the ruling JD(S)-Congress coalition is delaying the confidence vote to seek clarification over the Supreme Court's interim order granting exemption of party whip applying to the rebel MLAs.

Meanwhile, BS Yeddyurappa has claimed that it would be last day of the JD(S)-Congress government.

The state Assembly has 225 members, including one nominated MLA. The halfway mark in the 225-member Assembly is 113.
