Exorcist thrashes toddler to death in Karnataka

A three-year-old girl died after an exorcist thrashed her with a stick he claimed was magical to rid her of evil spirits. The parents of the girl had taken her to the exorcist as she was getting nightmares in her sleep.

Chitradurga (Karnataka):In a horrific incident, a three-year-old died after an 'exorcist' thrashed her with a stick to rid her of evil spirits in Karnataka's Chitradurga district.

Praveen and Shamala took their daughter to the exorcist in Ajji Kyathanahalli village in Hoothalkere taluk, as their daughter Purnika (3) was getting nightmares in her sleep.

The couple believed that their daughter might be under the influence of some negative energies and hence decided to take her to the exorcist Rakesh.

Rakesh said that the child was repeatedly being attacked by a ghost and assured the parents that he would rid their daughter of the evil.

He then started hitting the child with a stick he claimed was magical, following which the kid fell unconscious.

Unfortunately, the child died while she was being taken to the Holalkere hospital.

Following the incident, a case has been filed against the exorcist Rakesh and his brother Parashuram at the Chikkajajuru police station, District Police Superintendent G Radhika informed.
