Karnataka: Man installs stunning statue of late wife at home

A businessman in Karnataka stunned guests at his house warming ceremony with a life-size silicone statue of his wife who was killed in a car crash years ago.

Koppala: A businessman in Karnataka surprised guests at his house warming ceremony with a statue of his wife who was killed in a car crash three years ago.

Srinivas Gupta, who was missing his wife Madhavi badly, installed the life-size silicone wax statue of her sitting on a sofa in a pink saree and sporting gold ornaments.

The guests were taken by surprise as they were greeted by the statue at what is thought to be Madhavi's dream house in Koppala. It took a year for Banglore-based Bombemane artists to build the statue.

"Our artist suggested me to have silicon statue instead of the wax statue as we live in Koppal which is a hot place, and the air-conditioner cannot be running all the time to maintain the wax. So as per the suggestion, we got the silicon statue prepared," Gupta added."It is a great feeling to have my wife again at my home, as this was her dream home."

"Artist Shreedhar Murthy from Bengaluru took a year to build my wife's statue. Silicon was used for the statue for durability," Gupta said.

Three years ago, while travelling to Tirupati along with her two daughters, Madhavi's car rammed into a speeding truck killing her. Her daughters escaped with minor injuries.

It was then the 57-year-old entrepreneur decided to fulfil his late wife's dream of owning a bungalow. Subsequently, he approached over 25 architects and then ended up meeting Ranghannanavar, whose idea of installing the statue of his wife in the living room impressed him the most.

Madhavi's statue cannot walk or talk, but it left every visitor to the house speechless.
