Hyderabad: After the resounding victory of Congress in Karnataka Assembly polls, Vokkaliga seers from Hariharapura Mutt paid a visit to KPCC President DK Shivakumar's residence in Bengaluru on Sunday and blessed him saying that he would be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. Later, the KPCC president went to Siddaganga Mutt in Tumakuru and met Lingayat seer there.
KPCC president DK Shivakumars said, "The Mutt is a holy place for me. Swamiji has always guided me. Swamiji gave me complete guidance even when the income-tax raids took place. I asked for 134 seats and I got more than that." Shivakumar, along with his family, visited Nonavinakere to catch up with his ‘spiritual guru Ajjayya.’ Vokkaligas, an influential and the second most dominant caste after Lingayats, take up 16 per cent of Karnataka’s demographics.

DK Shivakumar, who is a staunch loyalist of the Gandhi family, vowed to bring back the party to power when former AICC President Sonia Gandhi called on him when he was put behind bars by the Enforcement Directorate. Speaking to the media after the landslide victory of the Congress he broke down and recalled senior leader Sonia Gandhi's visit to Tihar jail in Delhi to meet him in 2020 when he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case.
Though Shivakumar said that there are no differences with Siddaramaiah a poster war broke out between the two Chief Minister aspirants. It seems their supporters put up posters to bat for their respective leaders' candidature for the CM's post. However, it remains to be seen, who would be become the next CM of Karnataka where the people Karnataka gave an absolute majority to Congress after many years.
