Bengaluru: Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Sunday night tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Yediyurappa informed on Twitter that he had tested positive for the COVID-19 and is being hospitalised as a precautionary measure even though he is fine.
"I have tested positive for coronavirus. Whilst I am fine, I am being hospitalised as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors. I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine," he tweeted.
Karnataka CM's tweet came hours after Home Minister Amit Shah took to Twitter and announced he had tested positive for coronavirus.
The chief minister was taken to the Manipal hospital at the Old Airport Road in Bengaluru, sources close to him said.
