Bengaluru: Even after imposing Janata curfew in the state, people are not following rules. Hence, in a bid to stop spreading Covid-19, it has become inevitable to take stricter action, informed Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Friday.

Speaking to the media persons after visiting Annamma Devi temple in the city, Yeddyurappa said," As people are not following the Covid-19 rules, lockdown would be inevitable. Using masks and maintaining social distancing must be maintained. Otherwise, more stringent action would have to be taken."

"We are discussing this with officials regarding the extension of lockdown in the state. What kind of action should be taken will be decided in today and tomorrow’s meetings," he said.

As several other states have announced lockdown and other restrictions to contain the surge of Covid- 19, Karnataka may extend lockdown to stop spreading the virus.

Reportedly, the Karnataka Department of Health and Family Welfare services Thursday linked 328 more deaths in the last few days to Covid-19, as the death toll rose to 17,212 since March 10 last year. The daily test positivity rate was observed to be at 29.83 percent from across the state in the last 24 hours.
