Bengaluru (Karnataka):The Karnataka State Cricket Association, which has taken several environment-friendly initiatives in the past like solar power, sub-air system, and bio-gas, took yet another green step on Thursday, as it installed a plastic bottle shredder at the Chinnaswamy stadium.
The shredding machine, which was inaugurated by KSCA president and former World Cup-winning Indian cricketer Roger Binny, has been installed in a bid to implement better waste management measures at the iconic stadium.
"We have initiated another 'go green' project. In the future, we are even looking at banning plastic bottles. For the time being, we have got a bottle crusher, and we are told it will help us to get rid of 85% of plastic waste," Binny said.
The shredder was set-up with the help of Reliance Industries, which sponsored the machine, and Biocrux India, which helped KSCA in the installation.
