Three senior scientists of ISRO in race to head IN-SPACe

The names of top three scientists have been sent to PMO for consideration. IN-SPACe board will be comprising members from the private industry, academia and GoI representatives.

Bengaluru:The names of three Director level senior scientists have been recommended to PMO for Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Center's (IN-SPACe) chairman position.

IN-SPACe will be playing a pivotal role in regulating private industries participation in future space programs.

Names of VSSC (Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre) director S Somnath, U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) director P Kunhikrishan and Isro Inertial Systems Unit (IISU) director Shyam Dayal Dev have been recommended for the position. Soon the centre will announce the appointment, sources told ETV Bharat.

IN-SPACe board will be comprising members from the private industry, academia and GoI representatives.

IN-SPACe, a nodal agency will regulate the activities of private industry in the space.

The union cabinet had approved the establishment of IN-SPACe earlier this year, and the autonomous nodal agency IN-SPACe is to be established as a single-window nodal agency, with its own cadre, which will permit and oversee the private industries and startups like participation and collaboration with ISRO's space missions.
