In one week, Bengaluru traffic police collect Rs 21.43 crore in fines

As COVID restrictions eased and the Bengaluru Traffic Police began physical checking of vehicles, it recorded 48,141 cases of traffic violations and collected over Rs 21 crore in fines during the seven-day period between September 13 and 19.

Bengaluru (Karnataka):The Bengaluru Urban Traffic Police collected Rs 21.43 crore in fines in just seven days - from September 13 to September 19.

Taking into account the increasing number of traffic violations, the traffic police registered a total of 48,141 cases and collected Rs 21,43,80,000 in fines during the seven-day period.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the traffic police was utilising technology to register cases. Traffic challans were issued online for offenders who were caught on cameras.

However, as the COVID restrictions eased out, the city traffic police, which was recording serious violations, began physical monitoring and checks.

Between September 13 and 19, the traffic police registered cases for violations like dangerous driving, problems in silencer, noise-making horns, parking in restricted area, overtaking from the left side, headlight problem, mobile use during driving, and no seat belt while driving among others.
