Tumkur (Karnataka): Income Tax department conducted raids at several locations linked to Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara here on Thursday.

According to sources in the Income Tax department, the raids have been conducted at around 30 premises linked to Parameshwara.

The senior Congress leader has been implicated in a case involving a trust that was accused of amassing a large sum of black money for medical admission.

10 I-T officers came at 7.45 am in three cars and it is being said that they checked the documents at the Parameshwar's residence in the absence of Parameshwar.

Parameshwara said he was not aware of the raid.

Parameshwara said he was not aware of the raid. "I don't know where they are doing it. Let them search I have no issue. If there is any fault from our side, we will rectify it," he told reporters.

10 police personnel from Sadashivanagar Police Station have been deployed at Parameswara's residence for security purposes.

According to reports, a four-member team also conducted search and seizure operations at Siddhartha Group of Institutions, which is owned by Parameshwara, in Tumakuru.

Karnataka's leader of the opposition, Siddharamaiah, in a tweet, slammed the raids and called them 'politically motivated'. "They are only targeting @INCKarnataka leaders as they have failed to face us on policy & corruption issues. We won't budge to any such tactics," he wrote.

I-T officials have allegedly reported that Parameshwara has made money from other businesses and earned illegal assets.
