Mangalore: Concealed in electric cooker, gold worth Rs 25 lakh seized

Gold weighing 499.26 grams was seized by Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport. The gold was concealed inside an electric cooker, an official said.

Mangalore: Custom officials at Mangalore International Airport seized gold worth Rs 25,45,920 concealed in an electric cooker.

The accused has been identified as Sumesh from Kasargod. He came to Mangalore in an Air India Express flight from Dubai and had gold weighing 499.26 grams inside the electric rice cooker.

The total value of the seized gold is Rs 25,45,920. The accused was immediately arrested and produced in court.

Further probe into the matter is underway.
