Karnataka charity serves food cards to the needy

DF foundation, established by a group of 20 youngsters have come up with an initiative to feed the hungry in the streets. Using food cards issued by them, the homeless can get food as per their need from partner hotels in Karnataka's Belagavi city.

Belagavi:As the number of homeless people in urban areas increase, RB Wali, an engineer, established DF foundation to offer free food and support to them. b The group of 20 youths provide free food cards for beggars along with the help of hotel association.

They have given a 'DF food card' with which homeless people can get food of their choice from partner hotels. One card costs ten rupees. This card is given to beggars, the elderly, those who suffer without food. 'DF Food Card will be accepted' boards are displayed in the associated hotels.

Thousands of cards have been distributed in Belgavi city, feeding the hungry. The DF foundation has begun working on this card delivery since the first week of January. Many hotels in Belgavi city are associated with the program.

It is open to the public also. They can also donate food. Anyone can buy these 10 rupee cards directly from the hotel and then give to the beggars on the street. Cardholders can go to hotels anytime and have lunch and breakfast.

Free food plan only till 2022

The foundation has planned the program till 2022. The youngsters envision that the number of starving people would decrease with the initiative. They also sent beggars, orphans, mentally ill people stranded in city areas to a refugee centre.
