Four from Karnataka go missing after raft overturns in Krishna river

Four people from Karnataka's Raichur went missing after the raft in which they were returning from Telangana's Narayanpet, overturned in the Krishna river. The police have sought the assistance of the NDRF to trace the missing persons.

Raichur/Narayanpet: Four persons from Raichur district of Karnataka went missing after a raft overturned in the flooded Krishna river while they were returning from Telangana's Narayanpet district.

According to reports, 13 people from Nadugadde area of Raichur taluk had gone to Narayanpet in neighbouring Telangana to purchase groceries.

Unfortunately, owing to the heavy flow of water in the Krishna river, the raft overturned while the people were returning to Karnataka. While nine persons were safe, four went missing including a six-year-old girl.

A woman on the raft was reportedly seen swimming across the Krishna river to safety as the raft sank.

The missing persons have been identified as Sumalatha (35), her daughter Roja (6), Narasamma Ramulu (45), and Narasamma Narasappa (55).

After taking note of the incident, Yapaladinni police from Karnataka rushed to spot. Due to the heavy flow of water, the police have sought the assistance of the NDRF to trace the missing persons.
