Four arrested for selling fake stamp papers in Bengaluru

Bengaluru Police have arrested four people for their involvement in selling fake stamp papers in the city. The police seized Rs 2,71,81,000 worth of fake stamp papers from the accused.

Bengaluru (Karnataka): The culprits who were involved in the selling and printing of fake stamp papers in the city, which was banned by the Government of India in 2000, were arrested by the Bengaluru Police on Saturday.

Haseen Modi, Harish, Shawar alias Sima and Najma Fatima are the accused in the case and the police are continuing the operation to nab one more accused, who is absconding. The accused used to sell the banned stamp paper near the Amar Radio Store in SP road, which is under the SJ Park police Station. After getting confirmation about the illegal operation by the group, the police immediately took action and raided the spot and seized Rs 2,71,81,000 worth of fake stamp papers and arrested the culprits.

Haseen Modi is alleged as the kingpin of the group. Known as 'Chota Telagi', Haseen discontinued his studies after finishing the 7th standard. He stayed in Bengaluru for 20 years and worked as a broker for making bonds to lease and rented houses in the city.

After working as a Broker near the Court, he started to make the duplicate stamp papers for selling. He has been involved in this business for almost a decade, and in 2013, a case under sections 258, 260, 465, 468,471, 420, 380 and 419 was registered at Halsooru Gate Police Station.

The other four accused Harish, Shawar alias Sima and Najma Fatima were also involved in the selling of fake stamp papers. The two accused women accused worked as typists in the premises of the court and later got involved in making and selling of fake stamp papers.

The accused revealed that they were cheating the public by making false claims in court by the fake stamp papers and false records by the papers.
