Yadagiri(Karnataka): Four accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Yadigiri have been taken into police custody on Sunday. The incident came to light after the video of the assault went viral on social media on Friday.
As per police sources, the incident happened eight months ago in Shahapura town and the accused recorded the incident on their mobile camera. The investigation has already started, they added.
Speaking to media, Yadagiri Superintendent of Police C. B. Vedamurty said, "Preliminary enquiries revealed that the incident took place eight months back but accused are saying that this incident took place one and half year back. The case has been filed in Shahapur Police Station. We have taken this case seriously and all four accused are now in police custody. Victim is yet to contact the police. Our officers are going to the incident spot."
Last month, gang rape of a young woman was reported in Karnataka's Mysuru leading to furore. The young woman along with her male friend was allegedly assaulted by a gang of miscreants during their visit to Chamundi hills in Mysuru on August 24. Till September 8, the police have arrested seven accused in the case.
