Bengaluru: Professor R Venkata Rao, former Vice Chancellor of National Law school of Indian University (NLSUI), Bengaluru has moved the top court against the university's decision to conduct a separate entrance NLAT (National Law Aptitude Test) due to delayed CLAT.
He has contended through his plea that the decision is baseless and beyond the power of the university, and it would make NLSUI an island of "exclusion" from an island of "excellence".

Reportedly, in view of delayed CLAT, scheduled for 28th September, the university developed its alternative admission process through NLAT which is scheduled to be held on 12th September.
R Venkata Rao argues that applications for the process were invited from September 3 which gave very less time to the students. Moreover the exam is supposed to be conducted online which would further pressurise pupils to arrange technical facilities. "students from rural areas might not be able to do that," he added.
According to sources, students have also filed a petition in a High court.
