ETV Bharat impact: Elderly woman staying in area of 4.5sq ft will soon get new house

The 60-year-old woman, Gurubayi, hailing from Gogikera of Surpur taluk in Kalburgi district has been staying alone for the last 20 years in a hut of 4.5sq ft. With the efforts of ETV Bharat, the local MLA has promised to gift a new house to the woman.

Gulbarga/Kalburgi (Karnataka):The woman who has been staying in a room of 4.5sq ft for the last 20 years will soon get a new house after a report of her grievous conditions was published on ETV Bharat.

The 60-year-old woman, Gurubayi, hailing from Gogikera of Surpur taluk in Kalburgi district has been staying alone for the last 20 years in a hut of 4.5sq ft.

When it came to the notice of ETV Bharat, a report titled, "Just You Can't Believe this!... This lady staying within 4.5ft for 20 years" was published on Monday.

Reacting on the report published, local MLA Narasinha Nayaka contacted ETV Bharat and assured to make a house for the elderly woman.

Perceiving the condition of the woman, the MLA also provide food kit to the 60-year-old woman.

Later, Gurubayi applauded the efforts of ETV Bharat and thanked the correspondent for his work.

"I have been staying here for the last 20 years. Though the house is very congested, but I have no means to build a new one. I want to thank all of them who were involved in getting me a new house, said Gurubayi with a smile.
