COVID-19 victim's body lies unattended outside cremation ground

Family members of a 30-year-old COVID-19 victim were forced to bring her body back, after they got to know that it was left unattended outside a cremation ground in the city. The woman was admitted to Comfort hospital in Karnataka's Bengaluru city, after being tested positive for novel coronavirus.

Bengaluru:The body of a 30-year-old woman, who succumbed to COVID-19 on Friday, was left unattended outside a cremation ground in the city.

The COVID-19 patient was admitted to Comfort hospital in Karnataka's Bengaluru, after being tested positive for novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile, family members of the victim alleged that lack of treatment and negligence of the hospital authorities led to the death of the woman.

Hours after the death of COVID-19 victim, after being admitted to the hospital in the city, the body was taken in an ambulance for autopsy to a nearby mortuary. As soon as the hospital staff reached the electric cremation ground in the outskirts of the city, they dropped the corpse outside the ground and came back.

Later, when the family members came to know about the same reached the spot to bring the body and kept it for a night. However, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) staff cremated the body, a day after the death of the woman.
