Chikkamagaluru (Karnataka): A woman with deteriorating health was admitted to a Thirthahalli hospital for depression. Here doctors discovered that her baby had been sold. This was brought to the notice of authorities of the Shimoga Child care centre who in turn informed Chikamagaluru authorities.

Dr. Balakrishna snatched the baby and sold to an unknown person

Eight months earlier the woman had been spurned by her boyfriend after she got pregnant. Her boyfriend refused to marry her and left her instead. She thought she would find solace in her unborn child. With that though she arrived at government hospital of Koppa Taluk, Chikkamagaluru district.

But a rude shock awaited her at the hospital. After giving birth, her baby was snatched by Dr. Balakrishna and sold to an unknown person. Later he sent her back by bus the same day.

After the authorities moved the case has come to light. A complaint has been registered at Koppa police station against Dr. Balakrishna and nurses Reshma and Shobha, all of whom had been involved in selling the child. The accused are on the run.

Luckily the case sheet dated March 14 did not have the delivery information, instead it has the name and address of a person who had bought the baby. When the authorities visited that address, the lady informed them that she had bought the baby somewhere as she did not have children.
